Youth Speaks 2018

Kineton High School fielded three teams for the Shipston and Stratford heat of this year's Rotary Youth Speaks competition.  It was hosted again by The Croft School, on the evening of 7th February, and teams from Shipston High School, Stratford High School, King Edward VI Grammar School and Stratford Grammar School took part. An evening of fascinating and articulate talks included topics such as teenage stress, virtual reality, sign language, and whether social media might one day create world peace.

Our intermediate team was chaired by Martha. The title of Ed's speech was, "Are professional footballers good role models for their young fans?", and Ben gave the vote of thanks.

One senior team was made up of Isaac, Alex and Chelsea.  Alex expanded upon a speech he'd put together for his GCSE English speaking exam, entitled, "Is Fake news a real threat to democracy?".

Josh, Noah and Kai won this heat in the senior category, with a speech called, "Post Weinstein Golden Globes: a lesson in hypocrisy?"  They now go on to compete in the District heat at the Arden Hotel near Birmingham.
